Try all extensions for image/music

From e-mail:

Apple (and probably many others) seem to agree with the popular perception that storage is cheap and adding more is easy to do. The former is debatable, and the latter is clearly false (and I say that after at least a decade of hardware work and three in software). One symptom of this attitude is that when you assign a directory of images to be synched to an iP{ad,od,hone}, iTunes generates a huge pile of directories with meaningless names, some of them empty, and some of them containing a single file with extension .ithmb, also with meaningless names. GraphicConverter (I haven't tried anything else) always says something like "This file is weird but might be readable as JPEG. Wanna try it and take a chance on crashing?" About ninety percent succeed, ten percent fail, one percent crash. Can dupeGuru be persuaded to make a similar attempt, if only to give the user an idea that this cryptic filename might be a thumbnail of this meaningful filename?
