Experiment with PE ext performance by creating a new Color structure.
Early testing doesn't seem to indicate thet it's worth the
effort. Under Cocoa, it performs somewhat faster and under Qt, it
crashes and I didn't bother debugging it too much. Even if it
worked, the benefits don't outweight the chance that it brings new
bugs.
