Add Go-To-Account Arrows to Transactions and Account Views
Reported by Randy Becker | August 16th, 2009 @ 10:15 PM | in v1.7.0 (closed)
I'm not sure how this would interact with the Transaction Info sheet, but it would be nice to be able to jump to an account from a transaction view, especially since most of my transactions are not split. Quicken has something like for transfers, under "Go to transfer" with command+[ as a keyboard shortcut.

I don't think so, but I'm not sure I understand #11.
In moneyGuru, in the Net Worth and in the Profit/Loss views, double-clicking on an account (or clicking on the right_arrow_gray_12.png icon) will take you to the Account view for that account.
The suggestion is that similar arrows be added to the Transactions and Account views. This is simple in the case where a transaction is not split. I'm not sure what would be the best UI for split transactions.
One example use case would be when I'm viewing transactions in my checking account, I notice that I just spent $30 on software, and I want to go look at the software account to see how that compares to previous software purchases.

Yeah, its description is confusing. It was a ticket from the previous ticket system (trac) which I copy/pasted with all comments. I'll just close it and we'll use this one.

While the way this feature should work for two-way transaction is clear, things get a little more fuzzy when more than two splits are involved. What I'd like this feature to achieve is to be able to cycle through all accounts involved in the transaction.
If you click on the an arrow or press the keybinding (probably Cmd+]) in the Transaction view, the first account of the From or To column will be shown in the Account view. When in the account view, clicking the arrow will show the next account in line after the current account (the order in which the accounts are shown is determined by the order of the selected transaction's splits).
