Shortcut for Today in date widget

Would it be possible for there to be a keystroke to quickly enter today's date?
Currently, the date defaults to today's or as the previous entry. Occasionally, it's necessary to put a missed transaction in from a couple of weeks ago. A quick way to return to today's date would be helpful.
Options might be to press T or the decimal point (ie on the number pad).
